Getting away from it all
Adventure and discovery begin in the cable-car, which, from La Mongie at 1,800 m, via le Taoulet at 2,341 m, carries the visitors to the summit of the Pic at 2,877 m, in approximately 15 minutes.
Thrills
At the summit, the view is unique and grandiose. In a 360° panorama you can observe the Pyrenees mountain range and the Plains of the South of France up to the first foothills of the Massif Central. The specially built terraces give you the most beautiful panoramic viewpoint in the Pyrenees.
Exploration
Devoted since 1880 to exploring the universe, the Pic du midi remains a mecca for observation and research. Now, the discovery area allows you to get close to and understand the great adventure of astronomy.
Important Recommendations
The site of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre (alt. 2,877 m) has been designed to allow you to share the sensations of high altitude in complete safety, but you mustn’t forget that you are at high altitude! Bring a warm piece of clothing and sun glasses. The site is not recommended for pregnant women, small children, and persons with a heart condition. For safety reasons, pets are not allowed. According to weather conditions, the working of the cable-car may be interrupted at any moment, for visitors’ safety.
Open all year round except from 16/04 to
20/04, from 23/04 to 27/04 and from 09/11 to 30/11.
For your comfort: new central buildings with reception hall, museum, restaurant, "Croque Midi"
( snack speciality), shop and terraces of more than 350 m².
