The national Tarbes stud farm (19 km from Lourdes)
Created in 1806, according to a by-law, to provide the hussar regiments with war horses, the Tarbes stud farm became a point of reference, when it comes to horses, for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery. Situated at the heart of the town, in a hundred-year-old park of 8 hectares, the stud farm receives the most representative specimens of horses (pure-blooded English, pure-blooded Arab, Anglo-Arab, French saddle, Merens, Clydesdale from Brittany and Franche-Comté), donkey of the Pyrenees |
Belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery, you can discover the Haras thanks to guided visits all year round. You will discover the stables, the work of the forge, the saddlery, the harnessing and the "Maison du Cheval"(19C), currently being built, will present various themes relating to horses through exhibitions and sculpture. |
