The Mauvezin Castle (32 km from Lourdes)

Medieval fortress built on a rocky peak between the 11th and 14th centuries by the counts of Bigorre and completed by Gaston Fébus and Jean de Grailly.
With a magnificent view over the Pyrenees as a backdrop, including the Pic du Midi de Bigorre just in front, the 37-metre-high keep houses an archeological museum, various exhibitions, a gun room and reconstructions of scenes. Instruments of warfare are exhibited in the courtyard. |
